Thiessen having MVP season
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton number one goaltender, and second-year pro prospect Brad Thiessen is being considered league-wide as the MVP of the AHL for this season.

Taking a look at the 25-year-old's stats alone, it's tough to argue who would be more suited for the honor:

On rare nights when the offense isn't clicking, it doesn't matter. Two goals scored for Wilkes-Barre should be enough in every game, to pull out a W.
Thiessen is already playing at an NHL level, but he is stuck at number 3 on the organizational depth chart behind Pittsburgh starter Marc-Andre Fleury and grizzly veteran Brent Johnson.
Compare his numbers to those of Fleury's first two AHL seasons:

Career-wise, being brought in as an undrafted free agent by Ray Shero, his play is beyond impressive.
After earning multiple weekly and monthly awards over every other goalie in the American League this season, there is only one more goal Thiessen needs to reach before he makes that final jump:

And can anyone really doubt him at this point?
