Tangradi, Johnson deemed ineligible for AHL Playoffs
Some very awkward and unfortunate news has hit the wire today, as three of Wilkes-Barre's top scorers will not be able to compete in this year's AHL Calder Cup Playoffs.
Chris Conner will not be eligible. That isn't the surprising part though, as he is destined to stay with the NHL club for the remainder of the season.
Both leading WB/S goal scorers Eric Tangradi and Nick Johnson will apparently NOT be allowed to play in the AHL playoffs either.
Since both Tangradi and Johnson were still in the NHL as of yesterday (they can't be sent down because they are injured), they didn't qualify for the AHL's clear-day roster.
This comes as a bit of a shock, and for the top developmental league in the world to do this to two young players with potential is absolutely ridiculous and wrong.
Why should these players be penalized for getting hurt while in the NHL? It makes no sense. How isn't there an exception for injured players?
So when the Baby Pens are battling in the post-season, these two will just sit and watch from the press box? If that is the case, the league should be embarrassed and ashamed.
