Sami Salo. WB/S PENS LOSE.

With WB/S' leading scorer Dustin Jeffrey and top prospect Eric Tangradi both on recall to the NHL with Pittsburgh, you couldn't have expected much.
Without their two biggest offensive threats, the Pens battled for the most part, but were unable to put the Moose away.
Nick Johnson scored a garbage, in the paint goal after Ryan Craig slammed one through the crease. Zach Sill deflected in a Corey Potter point shot. That was all she wrote.
Sami Salo, the veteran NHL defenseman of the Vancouver Canucks played on a conditioning assignment.
He was nasty and looked like he hadn't missed a beat. On only his 4th AHL shift of the season, he dangled John Curry and scored to the backhand.
Later in the game, Salo blasted a slap shot from the far point past Curry before he could even say "degenerate".
ECHL call-ups Ben Street and Nick Petersen played respectable games, but weren't able to capitalize. Petersen over-passed a few times, too.
Somewhere in the depths of Wheeling, CPZ's wife cracked an evil smile.
The Pens bench was also short one player. They rolled 17, instead of the regular 18 skaters.
The scratches were Jesse Boulerice, Bryan Lerg, and Joey Mormina.
With Evgeni Malkin re-injuring himself in tonight's game against the Buffalo Sabres, it's not certain yet if an additional AHL call-up will be needed.
If it comes down to it, Brett Sterling is probably next in line for that. Ryan Craig and Nick Johnson could easily be promoted, as well.
Whether any more moves are made or not, it's time for the organizational depth to shine, that's for certain. Man.
