RECAP: Welcome to the South. WB/S PENS LOSE.
Tonight was definitely the closest, tight-checking game of the young series so far.
Neither goalies, Brad Thiessen nor Mike Murphy gave up much if you could get through the defensive pressure.
The first goal allowed was all on Thiessen though, who made a very uncharacteristic clearing bid up the middle of the ice. Nick Dodge waved it down, and buried it.
Chris Collins took a Tim Wallace 2-on-1 pass and put it home, but that was all WB/S could muster up.
Murphy stood on his head again, just enough until Brett Sutter scored the game winner in OT, from a seemingly impossible angle.
It's safe to say that the Checkers had one thing that gave them the advantage in this one:
Game.
Checkers lead the series 2-1.
