DeFazio called up
Newly signed forward prospect Brandon DeFazio has been called up from the Wheeling (ECHL) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).
After finishing his fourth season at Clarkson University, DeFazio was signed to a minor-league contract with the intent of him starting in the ECHL, and hoping that he dominated instantly.
As evidenced by his call-up after his first 10-game professional stint with the Nailers, it's safe to say that the organization is impressed with this kid, who has a bright future ahead of him.
He produced 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists), 7 PIM's and a +5 rating in just the 10 games.
Shawn Rine of the Wheel House, who covers the Wheeling Nailers for the Intelligencer Sports Editor describes his game:
"He has power-forward all over him. Loves the dirty areas and will take hit to make a play. Best thing? He works EVERY shift."
Jamie Peklicz of the Nailers also gives us his quick scouting report:
"Power forward. 6'1 solid 200, throws body around. Had 9 SOG tonite. Fought once and destroyed former Nailer Elgin Reid."
The additions of the young offensive talent which includes DeFazio and Paul Thompson should help bolster WB/S in the playoffs.
