According to WBRE sports, the news out of Wilkes-Barre is that former Penguin Alain Nasreddine will assist new head coach John Hynes this season.
2007-08 was his last full season as a player in North America. As the captain in WBS, he struggled near the end of the year but was handed their "Most Valuable Defenseman" award.
He's a great choice for this assistant spot because he's been playing steadily since the 1991-92 season all the way until this year.
He knows the game. He's a veteran to Wilkes-Barre and he's experienced with their systems and their town.
He knows what they're all about.
Nasreddine is no stranger to the blog, as he has had his far share of call-ups to Pittsburgh during the '05-08 seasons.
It was fun to search his name in the Archives. Here's what we found.
(Goals by Jobbers)
3. Alain Nasreddine scores in Montreal. -- Using common sense at the end of a period, Nasreddine snuck in from the point
and one-timed a Crosby pass into the net with 0.3 remaining.
Two minutes later, the Pens aren't that lucky. Mark Eaton lays out to block a shot. The puck bounces around. T-Bo tries, no dice.
Alain Nasreddine apparently forgot how to play hockey while sitting out.
Chad Kilger puts it in a empty net.
1-0
Alain Nasreddine just aimlessly drifts in front of T-Bo.
Goal.
3-1
Miscellaneous
- We'll take the point
- Still cannot believe someone collasped before OT.
- Nas has got to go.
And finally after 4-2 Pens win against the Devils, Adam/Derek posted these fine words of wisdom:
Alain Nasreddine got the job done during the time he was on the ice in the first.
A number-6 defenseman's credo: If you don't notice him, it's a good thing.
Everytime they show him on the bench, I'll never forget that Montreal goal.
What a beast.
