All week long we've been taking a look at the different divisions in the NHL. We're finally into the Eastern Conference.
The division is home to the defending Stanley Cup champs. Still not exactly sure how the Bruins won the Cup, but that was last year.
2009-2010:
The Northeast will probably be the most interesting division this year, and we have no reason to say that.
Every time we think about the Bruins winning the Cup, we get a little sick to our stomachs. They got hot at the right time, and they certainly exorcised major demons. It was a special year for them. But we'll see how they deal with the target being on their back. Not looking forward to seeing Tim Thomas' fat face on every commercial to start the season. For many people reading this right now, this is the first hockey season of your existence that Mark Recchi won't be on an NHL roster.
First matchup with the Pens this year:
December 5 @ CONSOL
Player that will probably score against the Pens:
Brad Marchand can eat shit. He'll score some goal.
Favorite Bruins moment last year:
What a huge goal.
Rinkotology player to watch:
David Krejci. Such an underrated player.
Best Bruins blog:
Days of Y'Orrbecame a must-visit in the playoffs last year. Unreal photoshops.
Predicted finish:
Second if not First.
Look out. Here come the Sabres. Last year in the playoffs, they had a 3-2 series lead on Philly and even had Philly in OT in Game 6. Then they let Ryan Miller play Game 7, and they were out of the playoffs. The new owner took the handcuffs off the GM, and the Sabres signed D-men Robyn Regehr and Ehrhoff, as well as forwards Ville Leino and Ales Kotalik. They lost Tim Connolly in the offseason. But the additions on the blue line make the Sabres that much better. And they can score goals.
Montreal is so annoying. When Carey Price isn't busy being bizarre, he isn't a bad goalie. He still hasn't recovered from when MAF dipped his balls in his mouth.
First matchup with the Pens this year:
October 20 @ CONSOL
Player that will probably score against the Pens:
P.K. Soupcan
Favorite Habs moment last year:
Rinkotology player to watch:
We cannot stand him, but seriously P.K. Subban might score some goals this year.
We wake up every morning wishing the Maple Leafs were a powerhouse. They're the ultimate villains. The entire hockey world has something to say what Brian Burke makes a move. They could be the Yankees of hockey, basically. Except as it stands today, the Yankees could probably take them to OT in a hockey game.
