We like baseball. But we can't put ourselves through following a season as tightly as we follow hockey.
And if the Pirates were good, Pittsburgh would become a baseball town overnight, guaranteed.
We wouldn't be ashamed to be Pirates bandwagon fans.

That being said, why is there a 45-minute postgame show for a 100-loss team?
One segment of the Pirates postgame show was devoted to Kent Tekulve taking a shower. Not even lying.
Just ridiculous.

But this wasn't Game 7 of the Finals. It was a preseason game.

We're just hockey-starved at this point.

Two months from now, this won't matter.

In fact, it won't even be matter.

Pens are 4-0 in the preseason.

We don't care enough to check for the last time the Pens went undefeated in the preseason.

Everything is right in Pens land. But don't tell that to the girl that called the Penguins postgame show and said that the Pens should send Zbynek Michalek to Wilkes-Barre. This really happened. Bob Grove should've just ended the show.

From what we saw of the game, it seemed like Brent Johnson was solid.

Malkin's first goal was pretty sweet.

Tangradi standing right in front of the net.

Engelland played a decent game.

FSN's performance was as mediocre as you remember it.

Preseason for them, too. Bunch of people sent this in.

I’m not going out on a limb with this one, because it might be common sense, but Paul Martin will be a fan favorite by the end of October. I was more than impressed with his puck handling abilities tonight. He’s quick with his hands, has spectacular vision, and a true knack for jumping into the play. I can tell you now I will get a kick out of watching him this year.

Mark Letestu, who had 1 goal, a +1 rating, 5 shots and 2 hits in the game, said that though he has been satisfied with his performance, he is still very nervous about his chances to make the team. The young forward is not taking anything for granted and said that even if he were to make the team, he would still work as hard in his 20th game as he is right now.

I really like his attitude, as he is not taking anything for granted and is quick to praise his teammates for helping him look good in what he has been able to do thus far in camp…

Coming into camp, there seemed to be an assumption that he would simply be returned to juniors while Lovejoy, Deryk Engelland, Corey Potter, Andrew Hutchinson and others would battle for the No. 6 and 7 spots. But thanks to a mostly unimpressive effort by those four and Despres' natural talent, he could very well be on the NHL roster come Oct. 7."
