Preseason Gameday 6 - Red Wings

Posted by Rick on .

Detroit Red Wings Presented by Amway (3-3-1) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (5-0-0)

5:00 pm/et

TV: PCNC

Joe Louis Arena

Preseason Series: 1-0-0

Last Meeting: September 21, 2011. Penguins won 3-2

What we said in our recap:

Malkin was too good. Scary good. He set up Chris Kunitz's first-period goal and scored a sick goal himself. He was back to creating turnovers, which is a great sign. Probably didn't hurt that he had real NHL linemates for the first time in like three years. Yeah, it was a preseason game. But who cares. What a joy to watch.

Know Your Enemy: Nightmare on Helm Street

What they're saying:

Goaltending may be an issue early on. There have been a few fluky goals, but not too many huge saves yet. We'll need those once the season starts. Having our main players out there at all times will help, but Howard and Conklin will need to step it up some.

Miller and Helm have had better hands so far. If this carries over into the regular season, expect them to each chip in between 12-15 goals.

Tatar loves scoring goals. This works out very well since I love it when he scores goals.

Abdelkader is becoming quite the pest and that's awesome.

Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:

ProHockeyTalk on Evgeni Malkin.

The PG's Pittsburgh Penguins preview.

Sidney Crosby won't play against Vancouver.

Detroit Red Wings Presented By Amway Notes:

The Red Wings want to move East next year. WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

Tomas Holmstrom sucks.

The Red Wings "admit they're not ready to start season."

The season is around the corner. Next time it counts. For today, we have no clue. Maybe Malkin scores a hat trick or something. (EDIT: Yes, we know he's not playing. But we're still betting on that hat trick.)

Do It.
