New Jersey Devils (3-1-1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (5-2-2)
CONSOL Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA
This is the first game against an Atlantic Division team this season so that should bring the hate levels up a bit. Somehow the Devils have only played five games so far.
Paul Martin hasn't scored in like two million games. Maybe he'll get one against his former team.
Season Series: 0-0-0
Last meeting that counted: April 5, 2011. Penguins won 4-2.
What we said in our recap:
All there is to know about the first period, really, is that Jordan Staal played a mini game with Hedberg. Late in the period, he had a semi-breakaway, and Hedberg lunged out at him like it was NHL94.
Know Your Enemy: Running With The Devils
What they're saying:
I don't want to take anything away from our team but Pitt or Philly are the heavy favorites to win this division (even if we don't like to admit it) so anytime we play either of them, we have to know what we are up against. However, the Pens are missing some key players which makes them beatable, very beatable.
Pittsburgh Penguins Notes:
Still no Malkin.
No Kennedy either.
Crosby is "not close to game ready."
New Jersey Devils Notes:
Martin Brodeur is injured.
It looks like Johan "MOOOOOOSE" Hedberg will be in net.
The Devils are "missing their top two centermen because of injuries." Poor them. That must be so tough.
