CONSOL Energy Center
2PM? Huh? The Pens haven't played in eight years though, so we'll take it.
It's a little bit harder to hate the Habs right now, but not because of what they've been through over the past week. The issue is that Geoff Molson, Canadiens' owner, and Mario Lemieux are the only two owners who have spoken out against violence in the NHL right now. Yes, they've done so for different reasons, but it feels really strange to have some common ground with the Habs.
That doesn't mean we like them though. Once we see the CONSOL filled with entitled Habs fans, it'll suddenly because easy to hate them again. Also, Subban & Cammalleri will help.
We'll be putting up a first period thread as the game starts from now on in order to keep the comment situation under control.
Know your enemy: Four Habs Fans
What they're saying about the Habs:
The one group that isn't powerless in this situation? The players. The Habs and the Penguins are the teams who (along with the Blues, especially given the latest news about David Perron) have been among the hardest hit by the NHL's Caveman attitude and jocular attitude towards violence in this sport we all love.
Season series: Habs Lead 2-1
Last meeting: January 12, 2011 - Penguins Won 5-2
What we said in our recap:
Secondly, God, does it feel good to beat Montreal. Montreal isn't even close to being as good as the Penguins, but they've found ways to win the last four games. It was so nice to finally see the Pens get a two-goal lead and watch Montreal completely wither away. Such a joke. And it was even better to read Habs fans on blogs and Twitter whining about officiating.
Can't believe we even have to mention this: No one in Sidney Crosby's family and pleading with him to retire.
The Pens are wearing their dark blue jerseys today.
Kovalev is playing against Montreal, one of his former teams. Montreal fans rallied to keep him in 2009.
Brett Sopel is unlikely for today.
Before losing to St. Louis on Thursday, the Habs had won five straight.
