The Globe and Mail has an interesting article on headshots that includes some quotes from Penguins' President & CEO David Morehouse:
"We’ve been on both sides of devastating and controversial hits to the head, and we believe that they should be eliminated from the game, period."
Of course, these comments are just going to increase the number of people yelling "MATT COOKE KILLS PEOPLE AND YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT CROSBY!!!!!!!!!!!!" Morehouse continues, however:
"If we’re going to have supplementary discipline it can’t just be a punitive tool, it has to be a legislative tool. And I think we really have to take a hard look at it and try to make sure that teams are held accountable for the behaviour of their players, and that’s us included"
No one's going to pay any attention to the "that's us included" line, of course. They'll be too busy screaming about Cooke and how the Penguins are agents of Satan for employing him. We wouldn't be surprised if most blogs and news agencies cut out "that's us included" when they quote Morehouse in the future, because clearly the entire NHL and everyone associated with it is biased towards the Penguins and that terrible conspiracy needs to be stopped.
In that same article, it states that Geoffrey Molson, owner of the Montreal Canadiens, has spoken out against headshots as well. We're waiting for someone to call him a hypocrite because we're pretty sure that, at some point in the team's history, the Canadiens have employed someone who could be considered a dirty player.
