From TSN:
The Dallas Stars have traded forward James Neal and defenceman Matt Niskanen to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenceman Alex Goligoski. More details to follow.

Neal is signed until the end of next season with a cap hit of $2.875 million.
Niskanen is also signed until the end of next season.  His cap hit is $1.5 million.
Goligoski is signed until the end of next season as well with a cap hit of $1.833 million.

Scouting reports:

ASSETS: Has a very good shot, and he loves to use it early and often. Also boasts very good size, which he uses effectively in the corners and in front of the net. Is a versatile winger.

FLAWS: Doesn't play with a lot of physical aggression, so he lacks that element in his game to be considered a true power forward.

CAREER POTENTIAL: Power forward with plenty of scoring ability.

ASSETS: Is an incredible athlete and superb skater. Owns tremendous offensive ability, but is also capable of playing in all game situations.

FLAWS: Must still add more bulk to his 6-0 frame in order to better handle the physical pounding of the NHL game. Needs to improve his defensive consistency.

CAREER POTENTIAL: Offensive defenseman.

It's sad to see Goligoski leave, but Neal is a solid winger who can score goals.  Niskanen is a decent defenseman with an offensive upside.
It's a good trade for the Pens.  Despite taking on some salary, Shero improved the team today.

Goodbye Gogo.

Go Pens.
