We bet that no one saw the schedule last summer and circled Saturday's game against Carolina as a huge game, but that's exactly what it is now.
Both the Hurricanes and the Canadiens won last night.
The Hurricanes have been unreal.
They've kept up with the Penguins' ridiculous pace over the last month. They've now won seven in a row.
However, last night could have been worse. The Habs Canes could have taken the Rangers to overtime.
Thankfully they didn't screw that up.
The Pens are five points ahead of ninth place Florida.
Wins in Carolina and Florida this weekend could clinch them a playoff spot.
It's insane that, however unlikely it may be, the Pens could still win the division if New Jersey continues to tank.
They could also end up golfing in a couple of weeks.
A few weeks ago the general consensus was that 94 points would guarantee a playoff spot. That's no longer the case.
TSN is holding a tournament to crown the best hockey play of the year.
Penn State won the National Invitation Tournament last night.
