The road trip is over.

The hype has died down.

The streets of Boston have not been stained red with blood.

We're back at Lady Mellon and it feels good, even if it's only for one game.

Only seven regular season games left for the old girl, including today.

After this game the Pens head back on the road for games against two big opponents: Detroit and Washington.

Then they'll settle into a nice six game homestand.

Is today a trap?

An afternoon game against the Hurricanes sandwiched in between games against New Jersey, Boston, Detroit, Washington and Philadelphia.

If any game was going to be overlooked, it would be this one.

The Canes defeated the Capitals in overtime on Thursday.

They defeated the Penguins in the last meeting between the two teams.

They're 10-4-1 in their last 15 games.

The playoffs are just around the corner.

It's time to bring that killer instinct back and crush the Canes.

Do what needs to be done.

Evgeni Malkin will be a game-time decision.

Guerin on the third line with Cooke and Staal.

How awesome is the Rupp/Adams/Kennedy line?

Manny Legace will be in net for the Hurricanes.

This year's playoff marketing campaign will feature iconic moments from playoff history.

Mario Lemieux's goal against the North Stars is one of those moments.

Ray Bourque finally winning the Stanley Cup as a loyal member of the Boston Bruins will also appear.

We've heard that there's another guy named Staal that plays for the Hurricanes.

We're currently investigating to see if he's related to Jordan.

We'll get back to you.

Hopefully the announcers mention something about it during the game.

If they ARE related, and let's say they're brothers, I wonder could we find out what type of environment they may have grown up in? Perhaps an urban setting? Or maybe something more rural... Some type of farm.... But what kind?

EDIT: I think our record in 1pm games is way better this year. But that's just what my brain is telling me, and I've learned not to trust that damn thing over time.

i think it is an ant farm? i heard rumors that there is a third staal that plays in the league, like i said they're just rumors but wouldn't that be crazy? is it possible for one woman to bring that much hockey talent into the world?

I would say they did that already recently. If they lose, they deserve to lose. Sweet game by Calgary last night, btw. Kipper's still over-rated, tho.

I'd really appreciate it if everyone on my Extra Attacker pulled in some points today. Need to end the week on a strong note given how poorly I've done so far.

Anyone know how many Extra Attacker teams there are total? I'd feel better about being 3610 overall this week if I knew there were like 6390 teams behind me.

and i'm still waiting to see the forecheck that hallmarked bylsma's arrival last year. the troubling defensive outlets are a big part of that, but still. that's where scuderi & gill are missed - they don't skate near as well as gogo & letang but they made far fewer mistakes with the puck. playoffs are nearing boys, time to turn that forecheck up to 11.
