The season is nearing its conclusion and the Eastern Conference is tighter than ever.

The Pittsburgh Penguins currently sit in sixth spot in the conference, but that could easily change.

Today we will look at the remainder of the schedule for the Penguins and the schedules of the teams they are battling for playoff positioning.

The Rangers look to have the most difficult path.  All seven of their seven remaining opponents are current holding playoff spots.  The Flyers look to have the easiest route as only three of their final nine opponents are sitting in playoff position.

The Penguins are in the middle of the road.  They should be able to win their games against the Islanders and Lightning, but they will also have to face the Atlantic Division-leading New Jersey Devils.  Their remaining opponents are the Rangers, Hurricanes, Panthers and Canadiens who are all fighting for their playoff lives.

It will not be easy, but no one ever said it was going to be.

Go Pens.
