There used to be a time, when the ASG Skills competition was a big deal.
Now it is like whatev.
And even though some are boycotting the ASG [ Penguins Experience], judging by the all pictures and events, it seems like it nothing but a good time up in Montreal. [ Yahoo]
Montreal even seems to be bringing peace to bitter rivals.
Just ask A.O. and Geno.

Elsewhere in Montreal, Garry Bettman vowed to, and then followed through, on his threat to suspend people for not playing in the All Star Game. [ Rockey Mountain News]
So Datsjoke and Obrustrom won't be playing in Detroit's next game.
Here is GM Ken Holland's take:
"I'm not going to call Nick and tell him he's got to go to Montreal to sit and talk with the media for a day. Imagine me calling Nick, a six-time Norris Trophy winner, four-time Stanley Cup winner and someone who has gone to the last 10 all-star games and telling him he can't spend the time with his four boys and wife. I have too much respect for Nick because I know he's playing in pain. He's shown up at every NHL Awards show he's been nominated for. He's done everything the league has asked him to do. He's put in his time and he's paid his dues. I'm backing my player because I know he's hurt."

Bing showed up at the ASG after Bettman's threats.
He will not be suspended.

Of course none of the media had the guts to ask Bing about Jeremy Roenick's comments about him.
Roenick told some newspaper out in San Jose this a few days ago:
"I see too many kids going the wrong way. They don't have the respect or the know-how to treat the sport - even Sidney Crosby. You see him bitching, whining and crying. He's supposed to be the poster boy of our league and yet every time he gets hit, he's grimacing and complaining to the referees. Veterans teach the kids the right way to play."
As usual, we defer to Patrick Roy on subject of Jeremy Roenick.

We were going to root for San Jose if something happened to the Pens.
Never-mind now.
Anyone that does Twitter knows that [ Kukla's] posts every 12 seconds. We aren't complaining, especially when he finds picks of Mike Comrie and Hillary Duff on some beach.
