Chris Osgood Doesn't Play, But He Speaks

What we can gather from reading newspaper articles in Detroit and random Red Wings blogs is that a bunch of the Wings fans feel the NHL is doing whatever they can to dethrone the Red Wings from atop the National Hockey League.  This went from not even a thought a week ago to a full-blown conspiracy since news of Lidstrom's and Dastyuk's suspensions for skipping the ASG was disseminated.

Great read.

Chris Osgood, who recently purchased a personal seat license at the end of the Wings bench, felt it was time to step up and say what everyone in the Wings' dressing room is thinking.

“In the new cap era, the league is built for different teams to win every year, so it wouldn’t be good for the league if we won again would it?" Osgood said.  "They want the fans to think their team has a chance to win every year."

"Do you see a lot of (NHL) commercials with us in it? Most of them are of Pittsburgh scoring on us or Pittsburgh beating us and we’re the team that won. I think we are probably the New York Yankees of the NHL. People dislike us a lot."

“We do have our fans around the league. Thank God. We need them cheering for us, but we have a lot of people who like to see us lose and like to see us get guys suspended.”

What? Is Osgood actually crying about fans from other cities wanting the Red Wings to lose?  Did Tom Brady cry about this earlier this century when every football fan outside of New England wanted them to choke?  Did Derek Jeter come out and whine like a little bitch because fans around the MLB were pining for the Yankees to collapse so that their home team could have a shot at a title?

This pretty much cements what we knew last Spring; that Osgood is a baby.  But implying that the NHL levied ONE-GAME suspensions to Red Wings players because they want the Red Wings to fail, that is just ridiculous.

The irony of this whole thing is that these Wings players were penalized for not going to the ASG.  Doesn't Osgood (and some of these Wings fans) realize that Bettman wanted these guys there to market the sport?
Idiots.  To the highest degree.
