Every paper on this fine Wednesday will undoubtedley begin their recap of this game with a lazy St. Patrick's Day reference, and they'll think they are the shit.
But Evgeni Malkin ain't Irish, and he ain't lucky.
He's just good.
Ironic that we led off the recap with a lazy St. Patrick's Day reference.
With another reminder of why he is the MVP of the National Hockey League this season, Malkin led the Pens with a five-point night.
More importantly, the Pens inched their way into a tie with the Flyers for fourth place, even though the Flyers have like 40 games in hand.
After a week full of cut-throat games, it was nice to watch a game that the Pens were pretty much in control of from the second period on.
With the win, the Pens and bloggers now have a few days to rest before a game on Friday against the Kings, who like the Thrashers last night, will be playing their second game of a back-to-back.
With Philly coming to town this weekend,
Friday night against L.A. is trap-game city.
Jump city for the rest of the cap.
And we still love Hedberg.
The Thrashers have won 6 games in a row or something.
There were rumblings that Malkin was hurt, but he's playing tonight.
Thanks to everyone who sent in that Crosby pic.

Remember the scene in Armageddon when they tell the astronauts
to take the night off so they don't forget what they're fighting for?
That's what we're doing.
We're not going to preach to the choir here.
There are some people that understand this is how the rest of this season is going to be.
And there are some people that just figured out that sports teams
play games on days other than Sunday or Monday night.
At this point we have no time to starting ranting about that kind of bullshit.
The Pens started their backup goalie.
And although Garon's shakiness was registering on the Richter Scale,
the Pens got out with a win...against the best team in the East.
How much should we look into this one, though?
The Bruins are more or less coasting into the playoffs at this point.
They're playing not to get injured.
But the Pens current winning streak and this impressive win is planting the seed
that you don't want to play an 8th-seeded Pens team in the first round.
You'll be able to say that about any 8th seed in the East.
But this is a Penguins blog.
And if you're the Bruins, do you really feel that great
about Tim Thomas getting you to the Stanley Cup Finals?

We have a recap all typed up.
But it is hard to edit it with puke all over your keyboard.
Got a point.
Don't even feel like typing anymore.
You want a recap of this game?
Go into your driveway and have your mom hit you with a car.
P.S. to Fox Sports:
No more Paul Alexander after games or we are storming the studio.
P.S.S to the Pens.
Burn the blue jerseys.
How the hell are there only 12 games left in the season?
Guess there is a two years after the Stanley Cup curse as well, because the Senators are complete trash.
But, there is little doubt that they will play there balls off today.
The Pens play two games in like eight minutes this weekend, so lets face it, they have to get a split.
Our email looks like downtown Bagdad, so we are going to try and catch up, but at this point who even knows.
Everyone is probably drunk today anyway, so whatev.
Sykora is playing or at least we think.
Looks like MAF gets the start today, and Garon tomorrow.
Pens are also wearing their Blue uniforms.
The biggest question in todays game is have the Nacho's at the Mellon Arena changed?
We heard rumors.
This stunned pic came from James R. after the Blue Jackets game.
One game and we got two top ten stunned pics of all time.
After the jump some solid youtubes.
"That save right there might have saved the Penguins' playoff life."
-- Bob Errey, paraphrased.
Quotes don't get more big-time than that.
MAF made a big stop with about 12 seconds left to preserve at least a point.
But should the Pens have even been in that position?
Hell yeah, they should have.
Making up a 3-goal deficit with 15 minutes to work with is no joke.
If the Pens were on a "win one, lose one" streak,
we would be pissed that the Pens "can't play 60 minutes."
If ANY sportswriter comes out and grumbles about the Pens not playing 60 minutes,
they shouldn't have a job.
Let's cut them some slack. They've won a few games in a row here.
And that third-period comeback is the calling card of a red-hot hockey team.
Pic from EMPTY NETTERS
The Pens fed off the large contingent of fans in attendance during the third-period comeback, take it to the bank. From the people who traveled to the game to the people who got to make it to their only game of the season because they live out there -- sick.
Steigy mentioned it during the broadcast and it so true:
Games like this show what hockey is about.
Home sweet Mellon for eight straight games.
Bring the noise.
