The Pittsburgh Penguins versus the Washington Capitals.
This is the series the entire NHL was been waiting for.
Sports writers have been going nuts, falling over themselves to come up with any sort of new Crosby VS. Ovechkin angle.
Bruce Boudreau, bless his tubby soul, was right when he said this was going to be a "circus."
Of course, that quote led to the creation of about 100 articles about how Crosby and Ovechkin will respond to the "circus."
The hype machine is already running at full capacity and the series hasn't even started yet.
Of course, that doesn't mean this isn't going to be a great series.
It's going to be a great series.
This could be one of the few things that actually deserves a ridiculous amount of hype.
These are two young, explosive, offensively-talented teams going up against one another.
When you add in the fact that a lot of the principle players don't really like one another, you end up with the groundwork for an incredibly exciting contest.
Yes, this is our Pens/Caps hype, coming one paragraph after our diatribe against the hype.
The Internet works in mysterious ways.
Is Ted behind this?
Oh, let the games begin.
Got this e-mail from someone claiming to be an anonymous source
inside the Capitals organization:
"High ups" in the Caps office are actually snagging up tix on Craig's List/Stub Hub so that fans from Pittsburgh can't get them. You can't make this up. Apparently, they also read different blogs (including this one) to learn just how many rival fans are coming and figure out how they can prevent it from happening.
Also, one thing to look out for: A LOT of the tix on Craig's List are actually fake (according to Caps front office).
If you've been on the Internet for more than a week,
you know what looks shady, and what doesn't.
After completing a search of Washington's Craiglist for tickets of Caps-Pens tickets,
we have found that in last 24 hours there has been over 70 listings for tickets.
In comparsion, searches in Pittsburgh reveal about 60 listings for tickets,
but that has been since Monday.
We went on to Craigslist to look at some of these listings.
So thank God we aren't playing Boston this round.

The Morning Show interview should be available sometime Wednesday
via podcast at WDVE.COM.
Or you can visit THEWDVE.COM.
We bought that domain for them so no one else in the Pittsburgh area could steal it.
Thanks to the entire DVE Morning Show for giving us
the chance to spread cybersquatting awareness to their audience.
We're done with this situation.
Time to move on to more pressing matters
like setting up a Pensblog Trolling Manifesto.
Any ideas on what guidelines there should be for Caps trolls,
leave them in the comments.
We purposely waited for when the Pens were between series
to detail the domain-name situation.
But as of 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, we're done with it.
Watching a search-engine manipulator rub feces on himself
is only entertaining for 24 to 36 hours.
Other things to worry about...
Only one game on NBC? Good.
We'll be appearing on 102.5 DVE.
WEDNESDAY MORNING. 6:45 A.M.

Is it safe to assume we're walking into some kind of trap?
Our own grandmothers wouldn't put us on the radio.
Something doesn't add up.
But WDVE actually promoted Rinkotology and the MLF.
Our apologies if our suspicions are wrong.
Whatev. Tune in.

Tonight the final two games of round one will be played.
The Penguins' round two opponent will be decided by these two games.
If Washington and New Jersey win, the Penguins head to Boston.
If Washington and Carolina win, the NHL marketing machine goes into overdrive as the Pens will play in Washington.
The Rangers and the Hurricanes winning brings the Canes to Mellon Arena.
Wins by New York and New Jersey have the Pens facing the Devils on the road.
Not one of those match-ups will be easy.
No one expected easy. It's the playoffs.
The “interim” is gone.
Interim Head Coach Dan Bylsma is now Head Coach Dan Bylsma.
"Dan has done such an impressive job with our team, both on and off the ice, that we didn’t see the need to wait any longer to announce our decision," said Ray Shero, the Penguins’ executive vice president and general manager. "He is the man we want to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins as our head coach."
"I want to thank Ray Shero and our ownership for giving me this tremendous opportunity to be the head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins," Bylsma said. "I’m humbled. I’m excited. And I look forward to continuing to lead our hockey team."
Bylsma has agreed to a multi-year deal with the team. Terms have not been released.Add a comment
