12 Penguins Games We're Looking Forward To

Posted by Rick on .

We're at the point in our hockey withdrawal where an exhibition game between Atlanta and Phoenix would excite us.
Then we look at the Penguins schedule and realize that there are going to be much, much better games played this season.

The last time we saw the Pittsburgh Penguins on the ice they were holding the greatest trophy in sports above their heads.
The Summer of Wooooo that followed was one of the greatest celebrations of our collective lives.
But that summer is coming to an end and it's almost time to drop the puck once again.

The Penguins are holding an open prospect camp on Sunday.
Training camp won't be far behind.
Then comes the preseason and finally the regular season.

It's definitely going to be an exciting year.
We've put together a list of the 12 regular season games that we're looking forward to the most.

Your list will probably be different.
Post it in Cblog.

Last Weekend in August

Like that old man who lives in the woods near your house, fall is quietly creeping up on us.
The good news is that so is hockey season.

But we've still got a lot of Summer of Woooooo pics to post.

Blue Jackets Pre-sale Code

Posted by #test on .

Last year in columbus.

From reader Zach L.

Well well well.  The Blue Jackets have a special pre-sale for individual game tickets for season ticket holders that started this morning.  Seeing as I am not a BJ season ticket holder, I was not emailed the special "pre sale code".  But after 2 (yes two) attempts at cracking the code, I now know it!  The code is- "mason".  Please pass this along through the blog.  Last year when the Pens played the BJs, the Pens fans near outnumbered the BJ fans.  To repeat that again this year would make Charlie proud.
Do it.

Hockey In August

Posted by #test on .

Nights like this is why we want to move to Canada.

The Canadian Olympic team wrapped up their camp with a scrimmage. 19,000 people packed the Saddledome in Calgary.

Crosby, Staal, and MAF all played.

Bing scored on MAF in the shootout. Somehow there is no video of this right now and it is pissing us off.

Solid pic of MAF after the jump.

How unreal are the winter Olympics going to be?

Kovalchoo...whah he did...

Posted by #test on .

We don't harbor a grudge against Ilya Kovalchuk anymore  for pointing at Sid back in his rookie year. 2:45.

A Stanley Cup kind of makes you forgive and forget.  Not to mention that without Kovalchoo, we wouldn't have this.

Plus, Ilya Kovalchuk is a beast.
And now we actually feel bad for him.  That Dmitry dude over at PUCK DADDY who speaks European languages asked Kovalchoo who he considers a legend.

His answer: Aleksey Morozov.

PENSBLOG CLASSICS: CONSPIRACY THEORY: DETROIT

Posted by #test on .

We got this tweet from some fat ass in Michigan:

Cred...eh?

The following post is from January 30 of this year and makes us laugh to think someone accuses us of having "cred," at any point.

For everyone wanting to watch the Red Wings burn, their 3-2 loss to Columbus in the game where Lidstrom and Datsyuk served their suspensions was awesome. Red Wings fans and fanboys alike took some joy in seeing their team lose that night, as they felt it justified Chris Osgood's conspiracy theory of the NHL wanting the Red Wings to fail.

On a Red Wings blog called SNAPSHOTS, the author referred to us as "the site that rhymes with Hens Blog," as he lovingly swallowed everything a Detroit News journalist had to say about the conspiracy coming to fruition.

It really is a shame that no Red Wings fans anywhere are stepping away from the crowd and saying that this conspiracy stuff is idiocy taken to a level rarely seen from human beings.

However, after looking through the history of the Red Wings franchise and its players, these Red Wings fans may be justified in their gripes, as we uncovered a rabbit hole of information tying the Red Wings organization to some of the most troubling and shocking events in world history.

We started at the top of the organization and the city of Detroit itself, and it didn't take long for the ball of yarn to unravel.

It can be a top five list about anything you want. Just email us your list, with YouTube links and pics. We'll pick the best one for the week and post it. If no one does it, really we couldn't care less.

Today's list comes from the upstart Steelerblog [XFLMVP.com].

Editors note: There will be at least one person complaining about this post. We didn't write it.
So in turn.
Blow us.

After the jump the list.

You know it is bad when other people alert you to good shit going on in your comments.

Thanks to [Kiss FM's] Mikey for alerting us to this, and to Goon Blogger for finding it.

This is some hockey parenting PSA from the 90's

There is a win on almost every level. 6:00 mark is the best piece of acting you'll see today.
