The last few days have showed us what's really important in life, and it's not the outcome of a hockey game. However, it's nice that things are getting back to normal again and that the Bruins are back on the ice in Boston. It will be nice to watch hockey instead of 24-hour news coverage.

And this is a big game.

The Pittsburgh Penguins can clinch first in the East with a win. The Boston Bruins can move back up to second place if they win. Jarome Iginla will play in Boston for the first time since his failed trade to the Bruins. Jaromir Jagr faces the Penguins.

Just read this Days' of Y'Orr preview from yesterday.

Don't worry. We can all go back to cursing Boston again as soon as the puck drops.

Help out a Pens fans who is out $300 because of postponed game

Posted by TPB Staff on .

Just got this email. The Penguins home game was moved from Saturday because of the manhunt in Boston . This has caused some issues for people planning to go the Pens come tomorrow. From Cory King who lives out in the middle of PA :

Guys,

I need your help and by tomorrow if at all possible.  My 30th birthday was this past Monday - April 15th.  My wife surprised me with tickets to my first ever Pens game at the new arena.  She had been planning this game since January - we drove 4 hours today from Lancaster - both getting work off so we could get in early and spend time with family - who is also serving as our babysitter for our 2 year old daughter (who by the way is a die-hard Pens fan).

Long story short - we were exactly 1/2 way here this afternoon when they announced our game, my surprise present, and huge wish come true was just cancelled and moved to Tuesday.

Now we cannot stay, come back, or use our tickets.  Our relatives can't go as well, nor relatives in Erie.

We bought our tickets from a secondary site, so we cannot have the Pens buy the tickets back or exchange them for the last Saturday game either.

Any chance you could post my story, or recommend any help to me our we are out $300?

There are 2 tickets, Section 201, Row F, Seats 5 & 6.

We will be in Pittsburgh area until Sunday at the latest.

 Thanks.

Cory

UPDATE: Tonight's Pittsburgh Penguins/Boston Bruins Game Postponed & Tentatively Rescheduled for Tomorrow at 12:30pm

Posted by Rick on .

Update via the NHL:

Update from the Pens' website:

The game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins scheduled for tonight at TD Garden has been postponed, the National Hockey League announced today.

The game has been tentatively rescheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, April 20, at TD Garden beginning at 12:30 p.m., Eastern time. The game's status will be formalized no later than 8:30 a.m.

The game between the Penguins and Buffalo Sabres, scheduled for Saturday night in Pittsburgh, has been moved to Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m., ET.

-- ORIGINAL POST --

Via the X Morning Show. We assume they mean "postponed" until a later date, not outright canceled.

EDIT: No one else is reporting this, but it's pretty likely  that the game will be postponed. Either the X has a source that no one else does, no one else is comfortable reporting what they know or the X just Tweeted something pretty obvious, assuming thet would be correct.

The official word is "no word yet."

Stay safe everyone.

Interesting stuff on Pens/Rangers from Jay Caulfied actually.

Plan the Parade: Steve MacIntyre Recalled

Posted by Rick on .

According to the Pittsburgh Penguins' official website, Steve MacIntyre has been recalled from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The best part of the news release is where they try to make him look like an actual hockey player by listing statistics:

Last year the 32-year-old MacIntyre split the season between Pittsburgh and WBS. MacIntyre played 12 games with Pittsburgh, collecting six penalty minutes. He appeared in 24 contests with WBS, totaling one goal and 59 penalty minutes.

A native of Brock, Saskatchewan, MacIntyre has played 90 career NHL games for Pittsburgh, Edmonton and Florida, tallying two goals, two assists, four points and 163 penalty minutes.

RECAP: Song Remains the Same. PENS WIN.

This is getting ridiculous now. The Pens' goal scorers last night: Sutter (2), Morrow (2), Iginla (1), Murray (1). None of those guys were on the Pens roster last April. The only name missing from that list is Jokinen, who actually left this game midway through with an illness.

As for the game itself, Morrow dropped the mitts with Subban and was basically all over the ice. Combined with his recent goal surge, you can't annoit every veteran the Pens pick up as a legend. But something about grizzled vets wearing that jersey number 10.

We're not too proud to admit that after his first couple of games, we were wondering what Morrow actually brought to the table. But Mark Madden, among others, were right. Morrow's grit is what defines him. You don't become a captain in the NHL for nothing. And Morrow is just getting started.

You couldn't help but stop and take stock of what was happening in this game. The Pens were facing what many would say is one of two huge hurdles in getting out of the East. They were doing it without Crosby, Malkin, Neal, and Martin in the lineup. And they still manhandled the Habs during long stretches in the game.

This game could be a very similar blueprint to what we see the Pens do in the playoffs: get a big lead and then hold on.

The Pens now head to Boston Friday night with a chance to lock up the number-one seed. Don't look now, but the Pens have won 5 straight.
