The Best $25 You'll Spend

Following behind previous Pens championship videos, "One From The Heart," and "Against the Odds," is no easy task.

We have watched those two videos at least 350,000 times. And like any great movie or documentary, each time we watch it we see something different.

So, when we sat down to watch the Penguins Championship DVD last night at the Waterfront the bar wasn't high, it was nearly unreachable.

But we have to say, the DVD surpassed a lot of our expectations, and while it will never be as good as the first two, it no question can hold its own.

The NHL gets a lot of flak from everyone, but all we can do is step back and really appreciate the access and overall fantastic look that this DVD gives us.

After the jump, just some random thoughts about the DVD, without giving too much away.

Tenk re-signs 1 year, 1.8 milion

The Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Ruslan Fedotenko to a one-year contract through the 2009-2010 season, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero

Fedotenko, 30, scored 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) and ranked second on the team with a plus-18 rating in 65 games with the Penguins this season.  It marked the seventh time that he recorded 30-plus points in a single season.  He appeared in 24 games for Pittsburgh during the post-season, recording seven goals and 14 points.

Another great job by Shero, and another unselfish move by a veteran player.

Pens have about 2.9 under the cap left to sign a d-man.

Farewell, Rob Scuderi, and we thank you.

After the jump, a look back at Scuderi's years in Pittsburgh.

Oh, and remember last off-season when everyone said the Pens lost too many key players.
for example, Ryan Malone, Marian Hossa, and Jarkko Ruutu?

The Pens had no chance to win the Cup, said everyone near and far.
We saw how that turned out.

The Penguins have so far lost Hal Gill and Rob Scuderi.
They were both beasts.
But we're not talking about a couple of Bobby Orr's here.

Some people are complaining about Ray Shero.

Remember, when Shero walks to work every morning, he'll look up and see an Atlantic Division banner, two Eastern Conference Champion Banners, and a Stanley Cup banner.

Most people go to work, look up, and see asbestos.

Suck it.

Free Agency Update - Scuderi to LA

EDIT:  From Rob Rossi on Twitter:
Scuderi: "LA!"
Rob Scuderi has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Kings, he confirms via text.
From the P-G:
The Penguins have lost free-agent defenseman Rob Scuderi.

He accepted a contract with Los Angeles today. Terms of the agreement were not announced, but is it believed to be a four-year deal with an annual salary-cap hit of $3.4 million.

The Penguins continue to try to re-sign winger Ruslan Fedotenko, and to have discussions about bringing back winger Petr Sykora.

They also are in the market for a backup goaltender, although restricted free agent John Curry is a candidate to fill that role.
