A brand new Stanley Cup champions banner will be raised to the very old Mellon Arena rafters during the Penguins' Oct. 2 season opener against the New York Rangers.

Since the NHL released the regular-season schedule Wednesday, the planning has begun for the Penguins' opening-night ceremonies. Team vice president of communications Tom McMillan said other than the date, no other details have been finalized.

It could be a night filled with mixed emotions as the Penguins and their fans celebrate their third Stanley Cup victory and cherish the final season-opener at Mellon Arena.
...
The conference and division championship banners also will be on display along with a scoring title banner, which will include center Evgeni Malkin's accomplishment from this past season.

They'll hang from the 48-year-old building until at least April 8, when the Penguins will play their last regular-season game -- against the New York Islanders -- at Mellon Arena.

Does anyone else find the division championship banner confusing?
Maybe it's just the summer and we're tired.
Someone please explain.

Glossary of Terms

We're in the process of updating some shit.

One thing we want to get squared away is all of our terms and shit. Stuff used in cblog, by us, and Pens fans as a whole.
Someone could stumble across the site and honestly have no clue what half of our shit even means. Which, is whatev, but still. Part of us still actually does care sometimes.

So we started making a list [Thanks BNG66], but we need your help.
We clearly missed some stuff so take a look and if you can think of anything write it in CBLOG.

Thanks, homos.

Today was Rob Scuderi's day with the Stanley Cup.

[PSAMP] has all the pics.

This is basically Scuderi's last act as a member of the Pens, so enjoy.

We haven't been around much, but the Dany Heatley situation that is sabotaging Oiler and Senator fans enjoyable summer is crazy.

We found these somewhere on the Internet.

We'd say NSFW, but we hope you lose your job anyway.

Anything that makes fun of Dany Heatley, we'll never be far behind.

Here are a few good ones:

Sykora Done With Pens, Bylsma

Posted by Rick on .

Very few people actually thought Petr Sykora would return to the Penguins next year, but hearing it come directly from him is a little disconcerting.

"My agent talked to the management, and I won’t be back [in Pittsburgh]" Sykora told Czech newspaper Aha!

While the fact that Sykora will play elsewhere next season isn't exactly a surprise, his reason for leaving the team may be.

Try not to break cblog.

Edit: Cblog often breaks if someone quotes a long, "Stooshian" post.
