New Kid on the Block. PENS WIN.

Jay Mckee is like a final boss in a '90s video game right now.
Nearly impossible to beat.
Mike Rupp is scoring like it's his job.
It is a good time to be alive.
It is still way too early to be sucking each other's jarg-ons, but with every win, the Pens are creating a cushion for the tough times that can befall a hockey team throughout a season.
As for this game, Tampa Bay thought it would be a good idea to give Steve Downie playing time.
Medics rushed to the Bolts' locker room to see if they could find a pulse on Vinny Lecavalier.
Sarge Gonch had another big night, and the Pens kind of just put it in cruise.
Dating back to when he returned in the regular season last year,
the Pens' record with Sergei Gonchar in the lineup is 25-5-1.
That is staggering.
What's even more staggering is that Malkin and Bing haven't even gotten hot yet.

It's the the beginning of a five game homestand for the Penguins.
They went 4-0 on their recent road trip and are now returning home.
It's also the season debut of the blue third jerseys and another return home for Ryan Malone.
"The Tampa Bay Lightning, which arrived to Pittsburgh late Friday and held a dinner-time practice at Mellon Arena, conducted an optional morning skate Saturday. One of the players opting not to skate was former Penguin Ryan Malone, who instead caught up with some old teammates."
-- The Penguins official site
"Pittsburgh South" is no more as Malone is the only former Pen playing with the Lightning now.
Is this song still funny?
Bloguin NHL Power Rankings

Kudos To Ben Koo and Derek Hanson for getting all of the hockey bloggers on bloguin together and having a weekly power rankings list. [Bloguin NHL]
We've never been ones to do power rankings, but it is actually fun to vote the Flyers last. But our vote couldn't keep them out of the top ten.
God, Toronto sucks.
Big game tonight.
Gameday later.

Morning Pensblog: Barry Melrose's Attention To Detail Is What Sets Him Apart

It's back.
People have had sex longer than Barry Melrose lasted in Tampa Bay.
It is pretty clear Melrose is a joke, but just in case you forgot...
Check out the screen shot after the jump.
Remember that "Places to Watch Games" post?
Well the new comment system won't let us import the old system. We're working on it.
Drugs Are Bad
A cop in Dearborn, Michigan stole some marijuana.
Then he called 911.
Sure it's from 2007, but whatev.
Some news headlines after the jump.
Say Hey Kunitz City. PENS WIN.

Chris Kunitz does all the little things.
He is one of the best at being in position for the breakout pass in the Pens zone.
He is a plus player.
He pays back opponents that unload big hits on his teammates.
Despite his exploits, Kunitz's name has been popping up
in the headlines and on joke message boards:

Thats why it was all the sweeter when he beat Cam Ward
to secure a win for the Pens in the shootout.
But whoops. It won't even show up on his season stats.
If you're unhappy with Chris Kunitz's production, go to hell.
The World Champs have started the season 6-1.
And people still have to bitch about something.
Suck it.
This win completes a perfect 4-game road trip.
Pens have won their first 5 road games of the season for the first time ever.
MAF is 6-0.

It's the second Staal VS. Staal game of the year.
The first one was overshadowed by some banner, so this is really your first chance to get really drunk.
It also gives us a chance to post this:
And this:
Sure, those were last year and they mean nothing in relation to tonight's game, but that doesn't make them any less amazing.
And don't for a second think that Carolina doesn't remember all of that.
As we mentioned earlier today, this is probably a big game for them.
Much like November 11th last year when the Pens played the Wings for the first time since the 2008 Final, the Hurricanes probably circled this date on their calendars as soon as the schedule came out.
That said, as the defending Champions, a lot of teams probably circled the Pens on their schedules.
Scam Ward
O.M.G.
What an underrated moment in the playoffs. Before the ECF last year, Cam Ward's balls were rubbed down before every game by the media.
Then the Pens shit in his mouth.
Return to the RBC tonight. It's probably a big game for the Hurricanes.
Just another game for the world champs.
