"I think Next Game I Will Score." PENS WN

"I think next game I will score," he said. "After that, I can start feeling better and better every game."
Malkin, in an interview with the [trib] Saturday December, 12.
[thanks to   nosrac1778]

If you read that Trib article, you get a little more in depth stuff about how Malkin thinks he is in a slump.
He basically said, he is trying for the perfect shot, and he has to stop.

That is what good players are about. To jobber fans, they just think if you shoot the puck on net, it will go in. To a superstar like Malkin he wants to put it top shelf, he wants to destroy the goalie by saying that I can put it anywhere I want to.

No idea why this photoshop is here, but it was funny.

Players go through little funks throughout the NHL season, it is natural. The goal of the NHL season is to be firing on all cylinders by like March. As the playoff get closer, the real players rise. If anything we all should be pumped.
Malkin is fine toning his game, the Pens survived a injury scare, and they still are near first place in the conference.
Guys like Dupes, and Rupp have helped the Pens through. How good has Dupuis been?

And things are about to pick up.

The next eight games:
phi
phi
buf
njd
ott
tor
buf
njd

That is a business schedule. The Pens could nearly bury the Flyers, and we all know the Flyers are looking at those games as games that could save their season. The Sens are playing well, and the Sabres and Devils are the Pens main competition in the East right now other than the Caps.

We apologize for the lack of a recap, but we have been stuck at southpointe all morning thanks to Mother nature being on her period.
So whatev

go Pens.

Ahhhh Florida.
Somehow, they always manage to make things difficult for the Pens.
And it's not like the Penguins haven't been trying to get the upper hand.

Twice this year the Pens needed more than 60 minutes to defeat the Panthers, despite firing over 40 shots in each game.

And they've even tried some more unorthodox techniques in the past.

They tried getting Crosby to fight.

They signed Tom Fitzgerald to the team's staff, almost solely to prevent game seven loses like that one in '96.

There's even a rumor going around that Burkle and Mario paid Keith Ballard to hit Tomas Vokoun in the head.

Or maybe not.

But somehow the Panthers keep making things difficult.

If You Get Bored This Weekend

Puck Daddy is having a pretty cool [Photoshop Expo]

Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, Dec. 23 at noon EDT. E-mail contest entries (.jpgs preferred) to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . .

The Yahoo! Sports rules of profanity and PG-13 content apply. We're looking for originality, creativity, wit; but please, at least attempt to make these appear to be actual things (floats, balloons, marchers) you'd see in a parade. (And we really, really want more balloons.)

And since we are bored, we will throw something into the pot. If you make one, work Charlie into it. Best one gets a special treat.

The coveted Talbot "Sshhhhh" shirt. We're getting our hands on a few. We'll have the story on that next week.

Whatever someone comes up with, it will be hard to beat the newest entry by our boy Duff of Bruce Boudreau.

Happy Homo Friday

Posted by joe on .

The difference in the pic is that the Couch played defense once.

Whats up homos?
After two years of virtual silence, I finally convinced Derek and Adam that I should be allowed to post.
So here I am.

For those who don't know me, I am one of the first gay hockey bloggers alive[ sans the chief at abel to joke]
I have been filtering anti-homo statements from the members of the Pensblog for the last two years.
I have so much dirt on them it is digusting. I am gay and proud. The reason I first approached the Pensblog two years ago is because I saw two bigots on the internet that were out of control. JUST KIDDING.. I just wanted to touch Adam's pp
But for real, there is nothing wrong with a good gay joke if it is tastefully done. It is not my fault some people are fags and can't take a little joke.

Anways, I have been a Pens fan since for as long as I can remember blah blah...

The purpose of my new found posting will be a weekly type of thing. If you all have any questions, tips please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I would love to hear from you!!

Now I wanted to post this in honor of my new favorite show, "Jershey shore."

This guy needs to be a gameday character.

When the Internet wakes up today, all we will hear about is the blown call from the refs that would have tied the game for the Habs. You won't hear about the awful call midway through the second period on Tenk, which was one of the worst penalty calls in about five years.

No, the Pens attempting nearly 80 shots, and actually registering 41, won't get the headlines.

This will:

Was it a bad call? Of course it was.
Didn't even know there was a ref named Chris Lee.
But, hey, the dude lost sight of the puck.

But for us, that call finally makes up for that blown Pens/Devils game a few years ago when the Pens got screwed out of like nine goals.

Whatever the case, this game was a reminder of what the world champs can do. Probably one of the best skating games of the season. Game wouldn't have been close but Carey Price was his usual self and eventually turned into a turd.

The powerplay is just warming up. There is a pulse.

P.S. -- After the jump, details about Festivus at Calico Jack's.

Guess what?
All of the Pens defensemen are healthy. Alex Goligoski returns tonight.
For the first time in what feels like forever, the Penguins actually have more healthy defensemen than they have spots in the lineup.

We assume that Martin Skoula will be the odd man out on defense.
How solid has Skoula been through this entire injury situation?
What a signing by Ray Shero.

Are the Habs finally done with their 100th anniversary celebrations?
What will distract them from their mediocrity now?

Ryan White was recalled from the AHL prior to the game.  The team did not notify the league by the 5PM deadline and will likely be fined for the error.

It's not all bad news for the Habs however.
They've won three in a row heading into tonight's game.
Of course, they lost four straight right before that.

Still Trollin' After All These Years

Posted by Pensblog Staff on .

We always make fun of people on [LGP]. Truth is, like our very own C-blog, there are some good posters and some trolls.

But someone found a very special troll moment recently that we thought was just another example of some Penguin fans never being happy.  And it was just weird.

November 7, 2008

December 8, 2009

How bizarre is that? Less than a year goes by, and Malkin is now being called out like Crosby was last year.

We didn't intend this to be a "defend Malkin" post, but we have noticed some people starting to call out Malkin.

So let's go to the numbers quickly:

1. 29 points in 24 games.

2. Missed 7 games.

3. Averaging 1.20 points per game. So without missing 7 games, he would have about 37 points, or good enough for second in the NHL.

4. +12

5. 11 assists in the third period this season. That is unreal.

6. You get the picture.

Typically fanboys like those who complain about players not scoring goals usually aren't even worth talking about.  So we'll play devil's advocate with a great NHL stat that may show Geno is not quite himself yet: Takeaways.

Last year Geno led the league with 94 takeaways, which is astounding.
Basically a takeaway means your wreaking havoc. And that is Geno.

This year, he only has 23 takeaways. The leader is down syndrome Datsyuk with 39.

Something tells us Malkin will be okay. He'll score two goals tonight in Montreal.
You'll read about it in the papers on Friday.

Erik Cole. Don't have the video yet, but he boarded some Devil into the boards last night.
