Happy Homo Friday

Posted by joe on .

The difference in the pic is that the Couch played defense once.

Whats up homos?
After two years of virtual silence, I finally convinced Derek and Adam that I should be allowed to post.
So here I am.

For those who don't know me, I am one of the first gay hockey bloggers alive[ sans the chief at abel to joke]
I have been filtering anti-homo statements from the members of the Pensblog for the last two years.
I have so much dirt on them it is digusting. I am gay and proud. The reason I first approached the Pensblog two years ago is because I saw two bigots on the internet that were out of control. JUST KIDDING.. I just wanted to touch Adam's pp
But for real, there is nothing wrong with a good gay joke if it is tastefully done. It is not my fault some people are fags and can't take a little joke.

Anways, I have been a Pens fan since for as long as I can remember blah blah...

The purpose of my new found posting will be a weekly type of thing. If you all have any questions, tips please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I would love to hear from you!!

Now I wanted to post this in honor of my new favorite show, "Jershey shore."

This guy needs to be a gameday character.

Tommy 4 life.

The Montreal Screw Job. PENS WIN.

When the Internet wakes up today, all we will hear about is the blown call from the refs that would have tied the game for the Habs. You won't hear about the awful call midway through the second period on Tenk, which was one of the worst penalty calls in about five years.

No, the Pens attempting nearly 80 shots, and actually registering 41, won't get the headlines.

This will:

Was it a bad call? Of course it was.
Didn't even know there was a ref named Chris Lee.
But, hey, the dude lost sight of the puck.

But for us, that call finally makes up for that blown Pens/Devils game a few years ago when the Pens got screwed out of like nine goals.

Whatever the case, this game was a reminder of what the world champs can do. Probably one of the best skating games of the season. Game wouldn't have been close but Carey Price was his usual self and eventually turned into a turd.

The powerplay is just warming up. There is a pulse.

P.S. -- After the jump, details about Festivus at Calico Jack's.

GAMEDAY 32 - CANADIENS

7:30 PM

Bell Centre

Listen to the game at [WXDX]

If you have any questions for Mike Lange, Phil Bourque or Bob Grove join the Penguins Radio Network Facebook page.
You can submit questions via the discussion tab for the Crash the Net segments or Penguins Hotline after the game.

Want to job the Habs on the go?
There's an app for that.

Guess what?
All of the Pens defensemen are healthy. Alex Goligoski returns tonight.
For the first time in what feels like forever, the Penguins actually have more healthy defensemen than they have spots in the lineup.

We assume that Martin Skoula will be the odd man out on defense.
How solid has Skoula been through this entire injury situation?
What a signing by Ray Shero.

Are the Habs finally done with their 100th anniversary celebrations?
What will distract them from their mediocrity now?

Ryan White was recalled from the AHL prior to the game.  The team did not notify the league by the 5PM deadline and will likely be fined for the error.

It's not all bad news for the Habs however.
They've won three in a row heading into tonight's game.
Of course, they lost four straight right before that.

Still Trollin' After All These Years

Posted by Pensblog Staff on .

We always make fun of people on [LGP]. Truth is, like our very own C-blog, there are some good posters and some trolls.

But someone found a very special troll moment recently that we thought was just another example of some Penguin fans never being happy.  And it was just weird.

December 8, 2009

How bizarre is that? Less than a year goes by, and Malkin is now being called out like Crosby was last year.

We didn't intend this to be a "defend Malkin" post, but we have noticed some people starting to call out Malkin.

So let's go to the numbers quickly:

1. 29 points in 24 games.

2. Missed 7 games.

3. Averaging 1.20 points per game. So without missing 7 games, he would have about 37 points, or good enough for second in the NHL.

4. +12

5. 11 assists in the third period this season. That is unreal.

6. You get the picture.

Typically fanboys like those who complain about players not scoring goals usually aren't even worth talking about.  So we'll play devil's advocate with a great NHL stat that may show Geno is not quite himself yet: Takeaways.

Last year Geno led the league with 94 takeaways, which is astounding.
Basically a takeaway means your wreaking havoc. And that is Geno.

This year, he only has 23 takeaways. The leader is down syndrome Datsyuk with 39.

Something tells us Malkin will be okay. He'll score two goals tonight in Montreal.
You'll read about it in the papers on Friday.

Erik Cole. Don't have the video yet, but he boarded some Devil into the boards last night.

What a jerkoff. Go Pens.

If you haven't heard, our iPhone and Android apps have arrived.
This post explains it. [Pensblog Apps]

Huge thanks to our Bloguin bosses, Ben Koo and Derek Hanson, for the work.
Sucks they had to job Nicolas Cage.

Go Pens again.

Hurting Your Own Teammate: A Retrospective

Posted by Rick on .

It's one of those things you laugh at even though you know you shouldn't.
Obviously someone suffering an injury should never be funny.
Hockey is a fast, tough game and no one ever wants to see a player hurt.
However, it becomes a little easier to enjoy the pain when it's been inflicted by a player's own teammate.

There's something about watching one team member inflict pain on another that brings a smile to our faces.
Of course, whenever it happens we hold back our laughter until we're sure no one is seriously hurt.
Then, if everyone turns out okay, we figure it's okay to laugh.
And we laugh.

Last night the Florida Panthers continued their quest to inflict injury on everyone wearing a Panthers jersey.

It seems like a bizarre goal to have, but it's clearly the one they are aiming for.

Yesterday Panthers' forward Gregory Campbell was injured by a big hit at the end of the second period.
The man who hit him was Bryan Allen, his teammate.

After the jump: the video and a look back at some other teammate-inflicted injuries.

Santa in Philadelphia?

Posted by Rick on .

Now we know what John Stevens has been doing since his firing:
Dressing up as Santa and punching children in the face.

What basis do we have that that's John Stevens?
None.  But every time we see someone with a black eye we assume a Flyer did it.

There's a rumor going around that Daniel Briere was seen scampering around the scene in an elf costume, but that remains unconfirmed.
