Game on.

It means so much less than so many things in the grand scope of everything, but it will be nice to have hockey. Go Pens. Go Boston.

-- ORIGINAL POST --

Via the X Morning Show. We assume they mean "postponed" until a later date, not outright canceled.

EDIT: No one else is reporting this, but it's pretty likely  that the game will be postponed. Either the X has a source that no one else does, no one else is comfortable reporting what they know or the X just Tweeted something pretty obvious, assuming thet would be correct.

The official word is "no word yet."

Stay safe everyone.

Plan the Parade: Steve MacIntyre Recalled

Posted by Rick on .

According to the Pittsburgh Penguins' official website, Steve MacIntyre has been recalled from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The best part of the news release is where they try to make him look like an actual hockey player by listing statistics:

Last year the 32-year-old MacIntyre split the season between Pittsburgh and WBS. MacIntyre played 12 games with Pittsburgh, collecting six penalty minutes. He appeared in 24 contests with WBS, totaling one goal and 59 penalty minutes.

A native of Brock, Saskatchewan, MacIntyre has played 90 career NHL games for Pittsburgh, Edmonton and Florida, tallying two goals, two assists, four points and 163 penalty minutes.

RECAP: Song Remains the Same. PENS WIN.

This is getting ridiculous now. The Pens' goal scorers last night: Sutter (2), Morrow (2), Iginla (1), Murray (1). None of those guys were on the Pens roster last April. The only name missing from that list is Jokinen, who actually left this game midway through with an illness.

As for the game itself, Morrow dropped the mitts with Subban and was basically all over the ice. Combined with his recent goal surge, you can't annoit every veteran the Pens pick up as a legend. But something about grizzled vets wearing that jersey number 10.

We're not too proud to admit that after his first couple of games, we were wondering what Morrow actually brought to the table. But Mark Madden, among others, were right. Morrow's grit is what defines him. You don't become a captain in the NHL for nothing. And Morrow is just getting started.

You couldn't help but stop and take stock of what was happening in this game. The Pens were facing what many would say is one of two huge hurdles in getting out of the East. They were doing it without Crosby, Malkin, Neal, and Martin in the lineup. And they still manhandled the Habs during long stretches in the game.

This game could be a very similar blueprint to what we see the Pens do in the playoffs: get a big lead and then hold on.

The Pens now head to Boston Friday night with a chance to lock up the number-one seed. Don't look now, but the Pens have won 5 straight.

Morrow became a folk hero in this one.

Jokinen left the game in the second period, so we're waiting to see what's going on with that.

Recap in the morning.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in first place in the Eastern Conference. The Montreal Canadiens are in second. Seven points separate the two teams. The Pens could put some distance between themselves and their opponents with a win in a big game tonight. Tonight's game is also a "Student Rush" game.

So, what jersey will the Pens wear in Chicago?

Posted by TPB Staff on .

First off, we love the idea of multiple outdoor games next season. We love that LA is getting a game. We love that Canada is finally getting an outdoor game post-Winter Classic. We love all of it. People are worried about the NHL cheapening the outdoor game. We're not too worried about it. All the games will sell out. All the games will most likely be on NBC. The NHL will make some money. That's really all that's important.

The Pens and Hawks will play theirs on March 1st. Tthe NHL returns from the Olympic break at the beginning of March. This will be a great way to jump-start the league for the homestretch of the season. We're not fans of the "that late in the season, that game may be really important, and they're playing it on below-par ice" argument. Every game is important.

The one thing bugging us, though, will be what jersey the Pens will wear. We examine that now...
