Ray Shero went after Jack Edwards yesterday

Posted by TPB Staff on .

So after Jack Edwards made his now famous comments about Matt Cooke in the first period, he had someone to deal with during the first intermission.

Ray Shero.

Via the PG:

Penguins general manager Ray Shero was visibly enraged when he learned of Edwards' comments and confronted him in the first intermission.

Edwards apologized shortly thereafter.

Group of Senators fans organizing Matt Cooke Hate Fest

Posted by TPB Staff on .

This immediately reminds us of that episode back in the 2009 playoffs when cops were called to some kid's house because he said he was gonna kill Ovechkin or something on a message board.

Some site called Red Scarf Union is organizing a Matt Cooke Hate Fest. It actually sounds pretty serious. Wouldn't be surprised to see the local police notified.

The SenShot website is not a fan of the Hate Fest.

RECAP: Iginla Strong. PENS WIN.

Posted by TPB Staff on .

pic from @RealDanaHeinze

The road to the Stanley Cup goes through Fifth Avenue. Following a tumultuous week, The Pens and Bruins stood together with the citizens of Boston and 'Merica before and after the game.

But in between, the Pens found the teabags the colonists once threw into the Boston Harbor and inserted them into the fans' mouths. It was great. Jarome Iginla faced the ire of the Bruins fans the entire game. He responded to the boos by scoring a huge goal midway through the third then showing his support for the city of Boston in the post-game.

The Pens have completed a season sweep of the Bruins, and they've also completed a season sweep of the 2, 3, and 4 seeds currently in the East. And then there's the Pens' record vs. the 8 teams jockeying for position for the other 7 spots in the Eastern playoffs: 23-4.

The Pens have clinched the top seed, so this upcoming week is all about getting healthy and finalizing plans and lineups for the first round of the playoffs. It will be fun watching the race for the eight seed in the East.

QUICK CAP: The Penguins are the number one seed in the east after beating Bruins.

Posted by TPB Staff on .

The Pens are the kings of the Eastern Conference. The target is locked on. But you know what they say: when you take a shot at the king, you best not miss.

The Pens won 3-2 in an emotional situation in Boston. (Should have been 3-1. The Bruins scored with two seconds left.)

Jarome Iginla got the go-ahead goal midway through the third period on the powerplay. Kris Letang with the GWG. Jussi Jokinen had three points.

Now time to sit back and watch the bottom of the East fight over the eighth seed.
Recap later.

Pittsburgh Penguins Gameday 44 - Boston Bruins

Pittsburgh Penguins (33-10-0) @ Boston Bruins (26-11-5)

ROOT, NHLN-US, NESN+ - 12:30 pm/et

TD Garden - Boston, MA

[Via Dana Heinze on Twitter]

The last few days have showed us what's really important in life, and it's not the outcome of a hockey game. However, it's nice that things are getting back to normal again and that the Bruins are back on the ice in Boston. It will be nice to watch hockey instead of 24-hour news coverage.

And this is a big game.

The Pittsburgh Penguins can clinch first in the East with a win. The Boston Bruins can move back up to second place if they win. Jarome Iginla will play in Boston for the first time since his failed trade to the Bruins. Jaromir Jagr faces the Penguins.

Just read this Days' of Y'Orr preview from yesterday.

Don't worry. We can all go back to cursing Boston again as soon as the puck drops.

Help out a Pens fans who is out $300 because of postponed game

Posted by TPB Staff on .

Just got this email. The Penguins home game was moved from Saturday because of the manhunt in Boston . This has caused some issues for people planning to go the Pens come tomorrow. From Cory King who lives out in the middle of PA :

Guys,

I need your help and by tomorrow if at all possible.  My 30th birthday was this past Monday - April 15th.  My wife surprised me with tickets to my first ever Pens game at the new arena.  She had been planning this game since January - we drove 4 hours today from Lancaster - both getting work off so we could get in early and spend time with family - who is also serving as our babysitter for our 2 year old daughter (who by the way is a die-hard Pens fan).

Long story short - we were exactly 1/2 way here this afternoon when they announced our game, my surprise present, and huge wish come true was just cancelled and moved to Tuesday.

Now we cannot stay, come back, or use our tickets.  Our relatives can't go as well, nor relatives in Erie.

We bought our tickets from a secondary site, so we cannot have the Pens buy the tickets back or exchange them for the last Saturday game either.

Any chance you could post my story, or recommend any help to me our we are out $300?

There are 2 tickets, Section 201, Row F, Seats 5 & 6.

We will be in Pittsburgh area until Sunday at the latest.

 Thanks.

Cory

Game on.

It means so much less than so many things in the grand scope of everything, but it will be nice to have hockey. Go Pens. Go Boston.
