Hockey In August

Posted by #test on .

Nights like this is why we want to move to Canada.

The Canadian Olympic team wrapped up their camp with a scrimmage. 19,000 people packed the Saddledome in Calgary.

Crosby, Staal, and MAF all played.

Bing scored on MAF in the shootout. Somehow there is no video of this right now and it is pissing us off.

Solid pic of MAF after the jump.

How unreal are the winter Olympics going to be?

Kovalchoo...whah he did...

Posted by #test on .

We don't harbor a grudge against Ilya Kovalchuk anymore  for pointing at Sid back in his rookie year. 2:45.

A Stanley Cup kind of makes you forgive and forget.  Not to mention that without Kovalchoo, we wouldn't have this.

Plus, Ilya Kovalchuk is a beast.
And now we actually feel bad for him.  That Dmitry dude over at PUCK DADDY who speaks European languages asked Kovalchoo who he considers a legend.

His answer: Aleksey Morozov.

PENSBLOG CLASSICS: CONSPIRACY THEORY: DETROIT

Posted by #test on .

We got this tweet from some fat ass in Michigan:

Cred...eh?

The following post is from January 30 of this year and makes us laugh to think someone accuses us of having "cred," at any point.

For everyone wanting to watch the Red Wings burn, their 3-2 loss to Columbus in the game where Lidstrom and Datsyuk served their suspensions was awesome. Red Wings fans and fanboys alike took some joy in seeing their team lose that night, as they felt it justified Chris Osgood's conspiracy theory of the NHL wanting the Red Wings to fail.

On a Red Wings blog called SNAPSHOTS, the author referred to us as "the site that rhymes with Hens Blog," as he lovingly swallowed everything a Detroit News journalist had to say about the conspiracy coming to fruition.

It really is a shame that no Red Wings fans anywhere are stepping away from the crowd and saying that this conspiracy stuff is idiocy taken to a level rarely seen from human beings.

However, after looking through the history of the Red Wings franchise and its players, these Red Wings fans may be justified in their gripes, as we uncovered a rabbit hole of information tying the Red Wings organization to some of the most troubling and shocking events in world history.

We started at the top of the organization and the city of Detroit itself, and it didn't take long for the ball of yarn to unravel.

Top Five: Why It’s Better To Be A Pens Fan Than A Steelers Fan.

Posted by #test on .

We've never been a big fan of lists, but whatev it is summer. We want every Wednesday to be a top five list, but with a slight twist. We're asking for reader submissions. It can be a top five list about anything you want. Just email us your list, with YouTube links and pics. We'll pick the best one for the week and post it. If no one does it, really we couldn't care less.

Today's list comes from the upstart Steelerblog [XFLMVP.com].

Editors note: There will be at least one person complaining about this post. We didn't write it.
So in turn.
Blow us.

After the jump the list.

You know it is bad when other people alert you to good shit going on in your comments.

Thanks to [Kiss FM's] Mikey for alerting us to this, and to Goon Blogger for finding it.

This is some hockey parenting PSA from the 90's

There is a win on almost every level. 6:00 mark is the best piece of acting you'll see today.

Game.

Crosby and the Olympics

Posted by #test on .

PUCK DADDY is apparently obliged to talk about hockey all year 'round.
Beast.

That link takes you to a plethora of Sidney Crosby/Captaincy/Canada talk.

Scott Neidermayer seems to be the name thrown around in Captaincy talks.  No word yet on whether or not Neidermayer will wait till halfway through the round-robin schedule to actually join the team.

Laying Low

Rick city has the week off. We're still in whatev mode.

One more week and then the fun begins.

Good story from reader "Death By Emu"

way back in February, I told the wife I wanted to buy a motorcycle. She said, well, up yours. I suggested a bet. If the Pens (and you know where they were in February) won the Cup, I could get one. Deal.

Well, say hello to my brand spankin new 2009 Triumph Bonneville. With a Pens logo on the side cover. And yea, I picked the bike color because it matched the Pens colors as close as they make it. Hey, enjoy whats left of the Woo-ness. Training camp on the way soon. Keep up the great work.

Nice touch.

If It's In The Game, It's Not In The Game

Thanks to [Pens Universe] for sending this in.

Thought a Red Wings blogger would be all over this. But that would require them to stop crying.

From the EA SPORTS DEMO:
Oops.

P.S. We have a brand new page for those interested in the EASHL.
Both PS3 and Xbox will be updated throughout the season. We now even have a dreaded Message board.

It is up in the top bar.

peace.
