On Inside Penguins Hockey, Mike Rupp was asked which Pens player he would date if he were a woman:

On a more manly note: Video of Rupp's hat trick last night:

Rupp Riders. PENS WIN.

On NHL10, Mike Rupp is some slow-as-balls joke on your fourth line. When you play the Computer on Superstar Mode, you need speed, speed, and more speed. You immediately substitute Chris Conner and Luca Caputi for Rupp and Eric Godard. But if video games were a true imitation of life, every male between the ages of 18-40 would be a World War II veteran. Or maybe you just play Deer Hunter, sitting around on your tree stand couch waiting for animals to walk by. Don't hurt yourself.

So, when Mike Rupp shows up at MSG on a lazy Monday evening and is the number-one star on a night when both Crosby and Marian Gaborik have two goals, you know Rupp either gave some kid with AIDS a puck during warm-ups or he had an unreal game.

After getting boarded and seemingly injuring his knee, Rupp heroically returned to score the eventual game-winning goal, and then he added another one to complete the hat trick. With those three goals, Rupp bounces his goal total this season to 8, while not having scored more than 6 goals in any season prior to this.

Best return from a knee injury since Rod Woodson.
Thanks to PSAMP for this.

But it isn't just his goal scoring. Rupp is a boss. After someone douches one of his teamates, Rupp is the first one to stick up for him. Basically, Rupp is terrifying.

For the Pens, they take two straight games from the Rangers, not even allowing the Rangers to squeak out a point in overtime; a quick 8-point swing just like that.

After the jump, there is an actual recap.
And the truth behind the end of the Branch Bourque-Davidian standoff is revealed.

Matt Cooke is suspended.
Alex Goligoski is back out.

The good news is that Jay McKee is back in the line-up.

In that same link Dan Bylsma sheds some light on tonight's line combinations:
The team will rotate with Bourque, Craig Adams and Mike Rupp on the third line with Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy.

"We’ll see it by committee," head coach Dan Bylsma said. "Craig Adams, Chris Bourque, Rupper will see time there in that spot."

Cooke's Suspension

Posted by #test on .

Did the fact that the Pens and Rangers turn around and play each other again tonight factor into the decision to suspend Matt Cooke two games?    Probably not.  The fact that the game was a blowout alone means there's gonna be violent retribution in the air tonight at good old MSG.

Speaking of which, what the hell is going on with the Penguins schedule?  Here, guys, fly to Long Island and spend Thanksgiving away from family.  Okay, cool, now go back home to Pittsburgh for a game.  Now turn around and go back to New York.  So dumb.  Almost as dumb as murdering defenseless animals on a full stomach.

We have no clue what to feel about the Rangers.  We hate them, but they're the enigma of the Atlantic Division.  We hate the Flyers and their tits.  It's almost a sense of disappointment when we see the Devils on the schedule.  As weird as this sounds, it's true:  If the Islanders would win more games against the rest of the NHL, Pens/NYI may be one of the best ongoing rivalries.  But no.

So, what are we supposed to do about the Rangers?  Of course we hate them.  But it's like, meh, okay.  Looking back, the only reason that playoff series in '08 even mattered was because of Double J.

Regardless, Pens ain't winning tonight in MSG.

NHL Looking Into Cooke Hit

According to TSN, the NHL is looking into Matt Cooke's hit on Artem Anisimov.

Rangers coach John Tortorella wasn't very happy about the hit:
"The big thing this year is head shots and what the league is going to do about it, but to me it’s pretty simple," Tortorella said. "There’s no fear at all [of] retribution.

"That’s why there’s more violence. Guys hide behind the rule book."
...
"The linesman jumps in [with Brashear] when it should have been left alone,” said Tortorella. “That’s where it’s screwed up."
Will Cooke be suspended?

For the answer to that question we turn to the NHL Suspension Flowchart from Down Goes Brown:

Crosby Is Definitely Hurting The Pens. PENS WIN

Thanks to everyone for sending this link in. We wouldn't pay $1 to read anything on ESPN insider, but for those who missed it, they had some article about Crosby hurting the Pens. [ESPN]

Thankfully someone sent us the article. It is a bunch of stats and shit. It isn't worth the time.
Since the article, Bing has like 90 goals. So suck it.

Now we just can't wait for the new Crosby hat trick commercial. Maybe they'll show how his first goal was offside./Bettman

Seriously though, how scary is it that Pens have had like no one, and they are like 18-9

How bad are the Rangers? Steve Valiquette turned in one of the worst goaltending efforts in the history of the Mellon arena. Don't let anyone tell you any differently. 6'6 piles of shit could make bigger saves.
We also got a first hand reminder on how big of a waste Sean Avery is. Sometimes you forget when you don't see him. His jumping of Tenk makes for an interesting game Monday night.

Hopefully he doesn't fake going into cardiac arrest like the last time the Penguins beat his ass.

Also, Donald Brashear is a butt plug.

So umm yea, assuming Bourque is out Monday and even though the Pens always play like poop in MSG, we're back in business.

Go Pens.

The first game of a home-and-home against the Rangers.
The Pens are in MSG on Monday.

"Kris Letang and Alex Goligoski are expected to return to the lineup tonight against the NY Rangers. And while Jay McKee will not play tonight, he said that he is hopeful to return in the team's Monday contest in New York."
The last time the Rangers were in the Igloo the Pens were hanging a banner, so it's fitting that the team is starting to resemble the Stanley Cup Champs once again.
Deryk Engelland and Ben Lovejoy have been returned to WBS.
They did a solid job while they were with the big club and it's comforting to know that they're there if needed.

The Rangers played in Tampa yesterday and lost 5-1.
Wade Redden and Brandon Dubinsky are out of the line-up for the Rags.

Wow.
Chris Bourque still playing. And the Pens still wearing the Blue uniforms.
The Penguins organization has to know that the Blue uniforms suck right?
We saw the article about the alternates changing next year.

If they don't bring back the early 90's uniforms as a favor for dumping this shitting defy your sac shit on us they'll have offically reached the Gordon Bombay Mighty Ducks II level where he becomes to big for everyone.

Whatever, we celebrate Thanksgiving for an entire week.
Peace
