As soon as the news broke that the NHL lockout was over, certain pockets of people saddled up onto their high horses and began talking about how fans eager for the NHL to be back are of the "sheep" mentality.
Why is that argument made? Because we didn't have NHL hockey for 3-plus months? The only people who would have a gripe are season-ticket holders if money they've put toward games ended up going into an NHL coffer somewhere.
Remember -- any piece of NHL merchandise you buy and any ticket you buy to attend a game is out of your own enjoyment. The NHL doesn't "owe" you anything. You haven't made an investment in anything. If you don't want to go to NHL games out of some self-righteous stance against the man, have a ball.
