Apparently Steve Mears works for NHLN now
No clue when this happened or why.
@tpbadam I don't think that there was ever an official release. They had a farewell show for him on Friday. He's moving to NY full time.

Okay. We have a clue when this happened, but not why. Mears was pretty much guaranteed to replace Mike Lange sometime down the road. Maybe Mears wanted that position right now, and he couldn't get it, so he bounced. He probably gave the reason on that farewell show, but it's probably not the real reason.
Mears has been solid the last couple seasons for the Pens. He just stays out of the way and lets information speak for itself. Oh, well. Can't find any information on who will be replacing him.
UPDATE: Rob Rossi and Mike Prisuta will be stopgaps for the time being. For the permanent role, we hope the Pens grab a younger media member in the Pittsburgh market.
